Branched Oak is located approximately 4 miles west of Raymond, in Lancaster County, Nebraska. The lake is approximately 1,800 acres of water, with fairly consistent water levels all year. Branched Oak one of Nebraska's premier Walleye fishing lakes, and is also excellent for striped bass in the late spring and fall.
The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as having fishable populations of Bluegill, Bullhead, Carp, Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Perch, and Wiper. Most fish are taken by trolling with crankbaits attached to downriggers. A depthfinder is often used to find what level of the lake the fish are suspended at. Fishing off the dam at night is also productive for walleye and catfish during the summer months. Anglers usually use nightcrawlers or minnows directly off the dam.
Facilities at Branched Oak are excellent and include restrooms, primitive and modern camping, fresh water, dump stations, picnic facilities, concessions, and boat ramps.
