Zorinsky Lake is located in western Omaha, in Douglas County, Nebraska. The lake is approximately 255 surface acres of water, with all boats on the lake subject to a 5 mile per hour no-wake limit. Zorinsky Lake is a very popular fishing spot, and experiences a great deal of fishing pressure. Fishing remains fairly good in this lake for medium sized fish, but does not produce the large bass it did when it originally opened.
The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists the lake as containing Bluegill, Bullhead, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Tiger Muskie, and Walleye. Anglers should note there is a 8 inch length limit on bluegill, a 10 inch length limit on Crappie, and a 21 inch length limit on Largemouth Bass. Bass and Crappie are often taken from the shoreline with small spinners and live baits. The tail section of the lake behind 168th street is also a good area for bass for those with boats. A large amount of cover lies in this area that bass often dwell in toward the summer months.
Some anglers with a great deal of patience and expertise can fish this lake effectively for Tiger Muskie. Most are taken by trolling very quickly with large crankbaits, or large shad. The fish are elusive and a difficult catch, but are well worth it.
Facilities at Zorinsky are limited due to it being a city park. Facilities include boat docks, picnic facilities, wheelchair accessible fishing pier, restrooms, and fresh water.
